Shimmering Mirages, an exhibition at Bau-Xi Gallery in Toronto, fall 2018. This body of work consists of large-scale digital paintings printed on canvas, then enhanced in the studio by painting acrylic glazes of colour across the surface of the painting. The significant scale of these pieces pushed my studio experience with digital production. Instigating a physical response in the viewer, the layers, transparencies and glazes also destabilized the expectation of what a painting is. Alluding to moments of the day and the pace of life - these paintings are a rumination upon the nature of work - the way that our production it is sped-up or slowed by the tools at hand.
